Summer Fitness on Angelfire and Tripod
Topic: Web Publishing

Summer is here!  I am delighted that the weather is warm and the days are long, and all I really want to do is sit in outdoor cafes and drink refreshing sangrias and frozen daiquiris.  However, summer brings with it one important, mortifying concern – bathing suits.

In my quest not to look repulsive at the beach this year, I’ve been browsing some Tripod sites related to diet and exercise.  Check out these sites and improve your beach body (and yes, you actually will feel better, too):

Resources for Diet and Nutrition  - A comprehensive directory of links to sites that will aid you in eating healthier

Scarsdale Diet  -  Sure, we’re all sick of hearing of the latest diet fads … Atkins, South Beach, Abs … been there, done that.  Well, here’s another one.  For anyone who has been itching to give the Scarsdale Diet a shot, this site provides menus, tips, and success stories.

Need some inspiration?  Check out Winning with Wendy.  Wendy details her road to weight loss success with photos, tips, and recipe suggestions.

Zen in the Art of Self Resistance - This site features strength-gaining and muscle-building exercises which require no equipment and can be done at home during your spare time.

Fitness and Fun Belfast - Check out this site for reasons to start exercising.

If you are inspired to lose weight, you may want to start a weight loss blog of your own on Angelfire or Tripod.  Fitness blog templates include yoga, cycling, swimming and more.  Recording and sharing your progress is fantastic motivation.  Not only can you record and track your efforts and improvements, but you can receive feedback from others who have been in your shoes.

Do We Really Need Another Pirates Movie? Heck Yes!
Topic: Web Publishing

If you find yourself asking that question as you pass billboards for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, stop reading now. If, on the other hand, you were Jack Sparrow for Halloween or hum “A Pirate’s Life For Me” in the shower, please continue.

I have been anxiously awaiting the release of At World’s End since the end of Dead Man’s Chest when I realized it was a 3-hour-long preview for the next movie. The only reason I wasn’t angry about that was because I had just stared at Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom for three hours. I can be placated easily.

Waiting for the movie to be released, I needed an outlet for my pirate fever. Searching Tripod, I found a fun site of pirate facts. Did you know Blackbeard would light his beard on fire to scare his enemies? I also found a site all about the Walt Disney World ride the movie series is based on. Did you know it was the first amusement park ride to utilize a gift shop at the end?

I hope this satisfies your pirate needs until you have a chance to see the movie. If not, go watch the trailers on Lycos Mix.

If I Leave Here Tomorrow...
Topic: Web Publishing
I heard Lynryd Skynryd’s “Freebird” about two weeks ago and it’s been stuck in my head ever since. I quickly realized that as many times as I’ve heard the song, I had no idea what most of the lyrics were! A quick search brought up piles of Lynryd Skynryd fan sites on Tripod and I found the lyrics. Now at least I can sing along with the music in my head.

Q-Ads: The Easiest Way to Make Money from Your Blog
Topic: Web Publishing

Free Blogs!

Starting your own blog is as easy as tying your shoes these days. That means everyone and their mom can blog for free about anything they want – financial advice, how to start a rock band, or even knitting clothing for cats. New technology is making it easier and faster for writers to post to their blogs, and to make money from them. If you’re living under a rock and don’t have your own blog yet, you can blog for free at Tripod.

Free Money!

The Buzz staff has previously reported on the desktop blogging tool Qumana, which allows bloggers to write and edit their blog posts from anywhere, and to post to multiple blogs. Another helpful tool for bloggers is Q-Ads. Working in conjunction with Qumana, Q-Ads lets bloggers insert ads into their posts to easily make money. Even more important, the blogger chooses the ad content, so their readers only see relevant ads. When a reader clicks on the ad, the blogger gets paid.

Free Program!

The best part about Q-Ads is that it is completely, 100% free. That’s right – you don’t pay a penny for it. You blog for free, why not make money for free? You can see Q-Ads (and Qumana) in action via a handy video demo at Lycos. It’s easy to use, and works with all Tripod blogs, and Angelfire blogs too!. All it takes is a couple of clicks and you’re on your way to being a money-making blogger.

Free Easy Video Insert, Too!

The Q-Ads tool also provides plug-ins for both Firefox and IE allowing users to easily add videos to their blogs, as well as the afore-mentioned ads. Once installed, it’s just a simple click on the Q-Ads icon on your browser, then choose your ad or paste in the video embed code, and voila!; your blog’s updated.
