With only one day left until Halloween, the original "Halloween," featuring bad guy Michael Meyers, is the most popular horror flick with web searchers on Lycos. "Halloween" generates twice as much search activity as the second and third most-searched scary movies, "Alien" and "Poltergeist," and generates nearly 10 times more search interest than "Friday the 13th." "The Shining," named by Entertainment Weekly, as the number one scariest movie of all time, is the sixth most popular horror movie based on web search activity on Lycos, while "The Exorcist," number two on Entertainment Weekly’s list, comes in at number four with web users this Halloween.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary, zombie cult horror flick "Night of the Living Dead," and horror classic "Nosferatu," round out Lycos’s list of top horror films, coming in as the ninth and 10th most-searched films this Halloween. Both "Nosferatu" and "Night of the Living Dead" are also included in HMV.com’s annual survey of the top 50 greatest horror movies of all time. Fans of "Night of the Living Dead" and "Nosferatu" can watch the classic cult favorites for free on Lycos Cinema’s horror channel.
